Quote of the day #35

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
— Mark Twain

MASKED PROTESTER: A university student, with his eyes and mouth covered with a red cloth, shouted slogans against Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during a protest in Caracas on Monday. Police fired tear gas and plastic bullets to disperse students who protested after Mr. Chavez’s government forced Radio Caracas television station, a channel critical of the government, off cable TV. India celebrates its Republic Day on Jan. 26 every year, but this year security measures were notched up following intelligence reports of a possible terrorist attack by Islamic militants.

the situation there really breaks my heart...

I want to help, I want to adopt a kid, I want to go there and do something... just donating money doesn't seem enough...

(I may be in love with Anderson Cooper... I thought he was the coolest reporter around before, but now I'm in complete awe of him)

...

and.... L.A Bombers pulled out a woman today from a crumbled building... (I'm terribly sorry that I didn't found the footage.. it was so moving...)

so... miracles are still happening... everybody is trying to help... and Americans are doing something they are really good at, even if everybody else tries to knock them down for it, they are trying to be heroic in face of a great disaster. The people of the United States may have all kinds of faults, and flaws that everybody loves to hate, but they are brave and courageous dealing with troubled times - even if it is a Hollywood induced will - they will help... they will try to save the day...

... so a very humble THANK YOU to all the professionals that are now there, trying to make a difference.

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it?
It makes you so vulnerable.
It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and
it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.

Sorry, but... WTF??!?! This is bizzarro world.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard have taken their romance into the studio

Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins frontman) is recording music with his girlfriend, the pop singer Jessica Simpson. If you find these words hard to comprehend, it is because it is difficult to read sentences over the deafening screams of 10,000 defeated Smashing Pumpkins fans.

"I am blessed," Simpson wrote on Twitter in a series of messages about her studio visit with Corgan. "He braids my prayers." As photographer Kristin Burns snapped photos, the pair got down to business with producer Kerry Brown, who is helming Smashing Pumpkins' Teargarden By Kaleidyscope sessions. On the other hand, it doesn't sound as if they were working that hard: "Fun to be lost in laughter," Simpson tweeted from the studio.

Corgan, 42, and Simpson, 29, were first spotted together in New York lin December. "She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source told E Online. Simpson has a history of dating fellow celebrities, including singer-songwriter John Mayer, quarterback Tony Romo and her reality TV marriage to 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. On the other hand, though Corgan has a reputation as a, er, crackpot, his fans like to imagine he is attracted to angst-stricken punk royalty like (ex-girlfriend) Courtney Love – not the blonde who played Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard remake.

Then again, perhaps we have misjudged Simpson. Perhaps she has the soul of a great rock'n'roller. As she declared on Twitter earlier this week, the message spangled with a smiley face: "Happy Birthday Jimmy Page!! You have always been one of my favorites :)"

Poetic Education #15

I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken - and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived.
- Margaret Mitchell
