Sorry, but... WTF??!?! This is bizzarro world.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard have taken their romance into the studio

Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins frontman) is recording music with his girlfriend, the pop singer Jessica Simpson. If you find these words hard to comprehend, it is because it is difficult to read sentences over the deafening screams of 10,000 defeated Smashing Pumpkins fans.

"I am blessed," Simpson wrote on Twitter in a series of messages about her studio visit with Corgan. "He braids my prayers." As photographer Kristin Burns snapped photos, the pair got down to business with producer Kerry Brown, who is helming Smashing Pumpkins' Teargarden By Kaleidyscope sessions. On the other hand, it doesn't sound as if they were working that hard: "Fun to be lost in laughter," Simpson tweeted from the studio.

Corgan, 42, and Simpson, 29, were first spotted together in New York lin December. "She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source told E Online. Simpson has a history of dating fellow celebrities, including singer-songwriter John Mayer, quarterback Tony Romo and her reality TV marriage to 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. On the other hand, though Corgan has a reputation as a, er, crackpot, his fans like to imagine he is attracted to angst-stricken punk royalty like (ex-girlfriend) Courtney Love – not the blonde who played Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard remake.

Then again, perhaps we have misjudged Simpson. Perhaps she has the soul of a great rock'n'roller. As she declared on Twitter earlier this week, the message spangled with a smiley face: "Happy Birthday Jimmy Page!! You have always been one of my favorites :)"
